What is Wiegand protocol?

The Wiegand protocol is a communication protocol developed by Motorola that applies to card readers for access control.The Wiegand protocol does not define the baud rate of the communication and does not define the data length.Wiegand format is the main definition of data transmission: Data 0 and Data 1 represent the transmission of 0 and 1.Now the most common Wiegand format is 26bit, the others including 34bit, 36bit, 44bit and so on.

How does the barcode scanner connect with the Wiegand Board?

General turnstile needs to support the Wiegand protocol for access control.But the common interface of barcode scanner is RS232 or USB,so it must be converted to Wiegand output from USB or RS232.Next,I’ll show you how the scanner of the RS232 interface is converted to the Wiegand output by using Wiegand board.

The Wiegand board has seven different colored lines.The green line and white line represent Data 0 and Data 1 of Wiegand data output.The black line and red line connect with 12V power adapter,the black,yellow and brown these three lines of Wiegand board separately connect with black,orange and brown lines of barcode scanner.The black line and red line of 5V power adapter separately connect with black line and red line of barcode scanner.
